AUTUMN

My favorite time of the year is here!

Last week I watched Carson a couple of afternoons since my mom was unavailable. He is growing up and is living up to the nickname I gave him, Monkey. 

On Friday we went on a long walk! Mom was getting her hair done at Kelli's so we walked up so that Kelli could see Carson. I think we both enjoyed being out in the crisp air! To my surprise, Carson didn't fall asleep on the way back home, but as soon as we got home he crashed.

Last Saturday we had a garage sale. This isn't something that we usually do, but we had stuff to get rid of and making some extra cash didn't sound too bad. Our friend Kaela lives on main street and had some stuff to sale, so we had it at her house with two other families. We were up really late on Friday night pulling stuff out of the storage room, put price stickers on them, and loading up the car. Before the sun came up on Saturday morning, we were at Kaela's setting up. We had a constant stream of people from about 7:15 to 1:00. Then we finally cleaned up! It was a pretty good sale (at least I think so) I made $50, Chelsea made $45, and mom made about $150. Then we took a bunch of the left over stuff to the D.I. I was excited because I need another pair of jeans and with $50 extra, I could afford them. On Monday me and mom ended up at the D.I. and I found 2 pairs of jeans at $6 each! That meant that I would have enough money to get fabric for a skirt! YAY!!!

On Sunday we attended the broadcast of the dedication of the Brigham City Temple. It was really neat and I have been so blessed to be able to attend a few of those in the last couple of years! 

Monday I took the day off of work and got fabric cut for burp cloths and strip quilts, I figured out the placement of the strip quilts that I wanted, but I haven't gotten around to sewing it yet. (hopefully tomorrow)

Carson is being blessed by my dad on Sunday! They decided this week to go ahead and do it.

Traveling Vicariously

I don't travel a lot and I wish I had the money to do it. Since I opened my shop in March 2011, I have tracked where my items are going. In a way it is like I'm getting to travel through my sewing.

These are the places as of today that I have items!

Indiana, Michigan, Colorado, California, Ohio, Massachusetts, New York, Mississippi, Utah, Arizona, Georgia, Oklahoma, Idaho, Texas, Virginia, Illinois, North Carolina, Arkansas, Nebraska, Washington, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Wyoming, Western Australia, Alberta Canada, British Columbia Canada, and Ontario Canada.

I feel like I have traveled a lot.... :)

There are many places that I would LOVE to visit and see with my own eyes. Like Australia, New Zealand, and England. I wouldn't oppose to any of my items ending up there too, but maybe one day I will get to visit those places!

Until then, this way fits in my budget a bit better.

Brigham City Temple

We have been so blessed! Before the 2 Temple open houses I went to last year and then the Brigham City Temple open house I went to last night, the last open house I went to was the Bountiful Temple and I was very young! The past couple of years there have been a lot of opportunities to go to temple open houses and dedications in Utah. 

 

Last night McKenna, Dad, and I joined the young men and young women from the ward on their trip to the open house. The rides were super interesting. McKenna rode down with some of the most crazy beehives and then we ended up picking one up on the way home, so our car was crazy too! It was very different from the other open houses that I have been to for a couple of reasons:

• They weren't concerned with tickets so it was SUPER CROWDED. It worked out though, because we got through quicker than we had expected. Because we had to walk slower it was nice to really have time to absorb the beauty! It was amazing how they worked the peach blossom into everything (even the screws!). 
• This is the first temple (other than the Logan) that I have been in since I received my own endowment. It makes it that much more of a special occasion and spiritual experience. 

My feet hurt so bad when we were done, which I thought was strange because those were my comfortable church shoes, but as I was talking to one of the Beehives after, she said that her feet hurt because she was so touched by the Spirit that she kept forgetting how to walk. Maybe that was a little bit my problem too. 

On the way home I was talking to a couple of the Mia Maids about funny things said in Primary and it got me thinking that I should probably document them so that I don't forget! 

When I was first a primary teacher, at 18 years old right out of High School, I was teaching the 5 year olds. We had 13 of them and they had a special place in my heart. One day as we were sitting in Sharing Time, one of the boys leaned over to me and said "I have a secret and it starts with a K and ends with a T." as I sat there trying to figure out what word a 5 year old would spell that way, the only thing that came to mind was KAT. Then he said, "Cute. I think you're cute." 

I now teach primary and I have the 9-10 year olds. One of the boys was having trouble with his shoe because it was a little bit too small. Once he took them off, he couldn't get them back on. I loosened the laces all the way and handed him the shoe, he said "Wow, you're really good at that." I replied with, "I have had a lot of practice." then his reply was surprising. "Yeah, because your 40." I started to giggle and asked him if he really thought I was that old. He figured that he must have been wrong because then he guessed 36, I told him to go lower and he guessed 24. RIGHT! Then as we walked in to singing time, he asked me, "So are you married?" I told him I wasn't and he asked why. I told him that I didn't know and all he said was "Huh..."

Primary is great! Those kids are so funny and so smart! I love the days when my class acts out the story of the 2000 stripling warriors or says the most profound things. The Lord really knows that I need to be spending my Sundays with those kids right now.

Australia

Last week I sold my very first item to Australia! WAHOO! I feel so accomplished now!

I'm heading into my long week or working full time covering for my co-captain while she is on vacation. Tonight we are going to the Brigham City Temple open house with the Young Men & Young Women. I think it will be fun and a great experience.

Birthday Cake #1

I am now making the family birthday cake (for our extended family birthday party). I made the first one on Saturday. It took a lot longer than I expected it to, but it turned out great.

Kenna and I had a great time visiting with family at birthdays. Our cousin Nathan is hilarious! It was good to see members of the family that we hadn't see for a while.
