Always Starting, Rarely Finishing

Okay so I am GREAT at starting projects and coming up with the ideas, but finishing...not so much. {I have a quilt that only needs to have the binding put on, but I just haven't gotten around to it since I was 15. Not that I have been too busy to do projects or anything...}

This whole yellow rubbermaid--full of started, but unfinished projects.
I have a bit of an obsession with fabric, particularly baby fabric. Think whatever you may...but here are my reasons for this preference:
  • So cute & usually sooooo soft
  • I can come up with more project ideas using that fabric
  • My friends are all having babies (most of them are either expecting baby 2 or already have 2) and then I can give them a more meaningful gift
Okay so I have grounded myself from buying anymore fabric until ALL of my started projects are completed. Today after work I pulled out my started projects and found this:
See how they were started and that is it. Well after an afternoon of trying to 'catch' up on my projects:
7 burp cloths and 2 receiving blankets completed!!!!!
These two quilts are now 70% done, that means I have to find ALL my motivation to finish them by Sunday. {This is my personal goal for this week} {I only set it today, Thursday}
Maybe I can get myself out of the rut of starting but never finishing. I may have to ground myself more often.

Now I have to go clean my room and find something sweet since I worked so hard!

My new change

Okay, so when I need a change in my life, I redecorate my room. That is just my thing. This need for change happened the same time we went to IKEA. I had bought a rug for my room 2 weeks before our 2nd trip to IKEA and I just got everything else I needed to redo the room.
I got the rug, bedspread, pillow cases, the green pillows (well sort of) I got the white pillows for $3 a piece and then I just got green fabric and covered them. I also got the curtains and the cool little frosted globe lamp (below next to the vase of flowers).
My friend observed that since high school I have gone from green, blue, yellow & white to just blue, to red & black, to green, and now I'm to gray, white, blue and green. I absolutely LOVE my new room though and it is so relaxing and has become my little oasis (which I really need since when I lived alone I always had my own space). I also think that colors help it to look bigger which is really nice since it is a pretty small room.

A quilt for McKenna

I made McKenna a quilt for Christmas this year.
Her reaction was worth all of the time I spent on it. She opened her gift and looked up at me surprised and said "You made me a quilt?".

Day #2 Walk with Christ

How can I follow in Christ's steps today?
In all my decisions today I will ask, what would Christ do?
I will hearken to promptings received.
I will think of myself as a disciple and sister of Jesus.

A young girl was trudging along a mountain path, trying to reach her grandmother's house. It was bitter cold, and wind cut like a knife. When she was within sight of her destination, she heard a rustle at her feet. Looking down, she saw a snake. Before she could move, the snake spoke to her. He said, "I am about to die. It is too cold for me up here, and I am freezing. There is no food in these mountains, and I am starving. Please put me under your coat and take me with you."
"No." replied the girl. If i pick you up, you will bite me, and your bite is poisonous."
"No, no." said the snake. "If you help me, you will be my best friend, I will treat you differently."
The little girl sat down on a rock for a moment to rest and think things over. She looked at the beautiful markings on the snake and had to admit that it was the most beautiful snake she had ever seen.
Suddenly, she said, "I believe you. I will save you. All living things deserve to be treated with kindness."
The little girl reached over, put the snake gently under her coat and proceeded toward her grandmother's house. Within a moment, she felt a sharp pain in her side. The snake had bitten her.
"How could you do this to me?" she cried. "You promised that you would not bite me if I would protect you from the bitter cold."
The snake hissed, "You knew what I was when you picked me up." and slithered away.

New Years part #2

We LOVE Red Robin. It is our family's favorite place to eat whenever we are in an area that has one, since we don't in Logan. :(
On Friday we went to the Megaplex at the Gateway and saw Tron in 3D on the IMAX! It was pretty awesome! Then we went to the Garden Restaurant at the Joseph Smith Memorial building and I was a grown up and ordered a grown up meal! I got their lasagne (which I like anyway) but this one had spinach, carmalized onions, and artichokes in it (this is the totally amazing part!). It was delicious!
Then we spent time looking at the lights on Temple Square and trying not to freeze to death! Us girls ended up at the visitor's center chattin with sister missionaires instead of being outside in the COLD!
It was a great trip and our last day in Salt Lake included a trip to IKEA which is my favorite store! I managed to get out of their only buying a rug and a pillow (with great restraint on my part). It was a fabulous New Years with the family!

Christmas & New Years Part #1

Our Christmas was great! The guys all got Nerf crossbows and had a battle that morning, which sent someone over the piano to collect their arrows quite a few times. I got a Nintendo Dsi (super excited by the way). I also got great movies like How to Train your Dragon & Beauty & the Beast. I had McKenna this year and I made her a quilt (I will have to put a picture of it up) she was really excited when she opened it. We pitched in our money and because just giving money is pretty lame, I wrote a poem to go with it for dad. We continued my mom's Willow Tree nativity set by getting her the wise men this year. Our family has a tradition of going on a trip over New Years and this year didn't take us too far (Salt Lake) but it was really fun anyway! We took Jazz down to stay at my grandpa's house so he could be with other dogs and more importantly, not home alone at our house! He was pretty funny and got a little bit carsick! :(
We went to Hogle Zoo's zoolights and froze! It was pretty cool, just really cold. Me & Chase decided that we can never go to the zoo when it is an average temperature. We either go in the summer when it is WAY hot or in the winter when it is WAY cold. It was still really fun though.

Day #1 Walk with Christ

What do I think of the members of the Godhead?
How do I see myself as a daughter of God, member of God's family, sister Jesus Christ?
How will understanding my place in the Kingdom and my relationship to my Elder Brother help me to live a more Christ like life?

"
I Am A Princess"

Deep inside my young heart lies the one I want to be.
And deep inside my soul I find the seeds of divinity.
Now and then I see glimpses of the woman I can become.
I know someday I'll find her here if I don't give up.

Everyday I'm closer to the one I want to be.
And slowly I'm uncovering my Heavenly qualities
and I'll continue working toward the woman I can become.
Developing my qualities through service and through love.

I am a princess, a royal queen I'll be.
So I must choose to find and use my divine qualities.
Daughter of Heaven, a queen someday I'll be.
An heir of my Mother in Heaven for eternity.

A 14 Day Walk With Christ

I really wanted to do a 14 Day Walk with Christ again. It is a packet I got at some point during my young women years. I have found that I am more likely to do it everyday if I put it on my blog. Maybe some of these things will stand out to you and brighten your day (whoever reads this), but if not, it will help me continue doing it everyday. It will also probably be mixed within my regular posts, but oh well. My goal is to update every evening, so we will see how this goes!!!

"The only way that we can really know another person is to walk in their shoes: think what they thing, learn what they know, and what they would say, do what they would do. Christ said "Be ye therefore perfect". We can only accomplish this as we become like him."
INSTRUCTIONS: Read & ponder what is written each day. Try to keep it in mind throughout the day. Each day has a set of questions followed by a story, poem, or scripture to help you walk with Christ.
