For our sewing class we are required to complete a sewing glossary. Most of the girls will be teaching sewing someday and they can use these to assist them. I will not be teaching one day, so this is for my own use. To make it easier for me to use and help me remember how I did a certain technique, I did a couple extra things to it.
I made a pocket out of paper and put it in the upper corner so that I can pull the instruction card that I typed up out of it easily. I typed up some basic instructions for each technique and also put the page numbers for further instructions from the books that I intend to keep.

I am particularly proud of this sample. It is a lapped zipper and this was my first attempt at it. I am so happy that it turned out and that I have found this new talent and love of sewing. We are also doing pattern alterations which I find frustrating, but they are probably very useful.

I set up my practicum so that I can graduate. I will be working the 4-H program and will doing all sorts of things with them starting in March. I am really excited and ready to start!!!!!

A Valentines Week!

Well, this week my roommates and I decided to make valentine sugar cookies. We made them on Thursday and Heather came over too. My parents dropped off McKenna and Chase since they were going out to dinner. We made so many cookies and then had to get rid of some of them. We gave some to our neighbors and then I took some to work to get rid of. They were really yummy and looked great.
Anna snacked on cookies and frosting until she made herself sick! Yesterday was my mom's birthday and Valentines day. I spent the day with her. We went to Chase's swim meet at Mountain Crest (which was longer than it should have been) and I was mom's voice since she was officiating. I would get Chase to all of his events and then I would stand at the end of his lane and cheer him on. He had been sick all week, and you could tell that he was quickly getting tired, but he did great and even dropped time. His last event he took 1st place in and dropped a lot of time. He did really great! Then we were so hungry that we couldn't even make it out of Hyrum and had to stop at McDonalds to get something to eat. Then we went to run a couple of errands. Chase had coupons for free Great Harvest giant cookies, so we stopped to get those. I also got to try a slice of Chocolate Chip Cherry bread, it tasted like a really rich and delicious cake! Then we made a special stop for me!!!! This is what I got:
I have been taking a sewing class at the university and I have found a greater love of sewing! I got a sewing machine for Christmas when I was 13 or 14, but it is very limited in what it can do, and I don't think it is lasting very well. I had originally decided to get a mechanical sewing machine like the one that I am using at Utah State, but when I called to get a price, they told me about another machine that was the same price and could do more. So we stopped into Stylish Fabrics to check it out. It is really cool! I love it. It will do letters, some really cool decorative stitches and when you select a stitch all you have to do is type in the stitch number and the machine sets everything for you!!!! It is so cool. So McKenna, Chase, and I played around with it last night and Chase has decided it is his new favorite "video game". This was the most money I have ever spent on myself, but I had the money saved up and I have some awesome patterns, so I hope to be making some new clothes! My mom also wants to borrow it from me! Something else was exciting yesterday. Chelsea, me, and her friend Shalese decided to go to an Il Divo concert! We are going to fly down to Pheonix the day before, then maybe check something out before the concert and then go to the concert and then come home the next morning. We booked our concert tickets and our hotel yesterday, so now I can really start to get excited.
They have beautiful voices and they are good looking! I am really looking forward to this trip! I have added a couple of links in "My Favorite Things" on the right hand side of my blog that is a couple of songs they do. If you want to check it out, just click on the link and enjoy!

My Project for the Week

Well, I still have not been feeling very good. I don't think that I have ever had any kind of sickness stick around so long. I have just been trying to keep moving and doing stuff. This week at work I started another project. Our office has always looked like some sort of large closet! We have always had random papers everywhere and boxes of envelopes in strange places. And because we work around a shop, it is way dusty. Dad had a picture that he took in Alaska printed large and he matted and framed it. Now when Heather and I painted my office, we painted it off-white with a green tint in it. The picture that my dad chose has a lot of green in it and then he matted it with a burgundy and a green. It is hanging above my desk and it looks amazing. I have been wanting to do something to make our office look more like an office, I just didn't quite know what to do though. Once the picture was hung, it gave me the inspiration that I needed.
This picture pulls the green tint in the paint out for everyone to see, which alone has mad the difference! (This is my desk now!)
So on Thursday, I started project decorate and clean the office. I spent all of the afternoon cleaning out cupboards, drawers, and shelves. Then I organized our stuff so that we could find it, but it wasn't just lying around.
I made those flower pens a long time ago and I like them right there!
I also went to Hobby Lobby and got stuff to do a little flower arrangement. I like it!
Well, for any of you who have seen my office, hopefully you will appreciate this as much as I do! It just feels cleaner and prettier. I have been learning a lot in my sewing class and I am quite a ways ahead of most of my class. I haven't really been in the mindset of school but when it comes to that class, I am. My other two classes have been hard for me to keep up with and feel motivated about. I just have to keep trudging along since I am so close to finishing!

A Working Weekend

This week I have been fighting being sick. Over last weekend I had the flu and then I caught a cold one of my roommates had. I have been doing everything that I can to fight it, but then I worked at the Bridgerland Open Swim Meet that my mom was running. McKenna, Meredee, and I worked at the concessions for the meet both Friday night and all day Saturday. We got to Mountain Crest high school around 3 pm on Friday and got home at 9:30. Then we were back at the high school at 7 am Saturday morning and left just after 5. Now I have no voice and I feel awful, but we had a lot of fun helping out. We got to meet and get to know some of the other kids on Chase's team which was pretty fun.
Chase and Olivia and Makena Christianson were showing us there mucsles!
Meredee is such a good friend to come and help out. Even on a Saturday morning and she doesn't do morning!
The Logan Gators got 4th place overall! They did great. Chase dropped time on all of his events. He had a really good meet!
