Mid Summer

So it is definitely the middle of the summer now that it is July! June flew by so quickly and we are already to a new month.

I have been enjoying spending time with nephews, having some down time while my sister is on maternity leave and doing little projects here and there.

The most exciting thing this year for the 4th of July is that Ipaco was closed both Friday and Saturday! Wahoo! It was so nice not to have to work and just relax. Mom, Dad and Chase spent the weekend stripping and sanding the hardwood floors.

On Sunday they blessed Cody, so we went to their Sacrament Meeting before going back to our ward. Cody wore the same outfit that his dad was blessed in and he was so handsome. Since we all had to be back for our ward, we got together over at Grandma Griffiths' house (since ours was a construction zone) on Sunday evening to have dessert and spend some time together. Carson & Cody are so blessed to have so many grandparents alive and that know them. Just on Sunday he got to cuddle with Grandma Trish, Great Grandma Andersen and Great Great Grandma Griffiths! They also have a lot of grandparents on their dad's side of the family too.
The song that the primary is supposed to learn for July is the hymn Come Follow Me. I was struggling to figure out a way to teach this to the kids. Especially because there are some tough words to understand and the kids just don't remember the words if they don't know what they mean. I found a video to do the first verse in simplified ASL. The kids picked it up so quickly that I struggled to find other things to keep them busy for the rest of singing time. I knew that the junior primary does better when they get to use their hands, but they latched right on and had it super quick, as did the senior primary. Now I have got the opportunity to do some other fun singing times to give the kids a little bit of a break from our program songs. I'm thinking that the next couple of weeks we will do pioneer related singing times. Hopefully the kids like it.

Next week the boys will be back with us full time as Chelsea goes back to work. I'm excited to get to spend time with them and I think Carson is excited to have some days at Grandma's house, but I'm sure that it will be a re-adjustment for him. It feels like real life is starting again next week and I'm not entirely sure that I'm ready for it!
