Another Fun Adventure

I had another fun adventure nannying this week. From Monday through Thursday night, I stayed with the 4 children of some family friends. The oldest 3 are girls ages 13, 11, and 8. The youngest is a 5 year old boy. Between juggling meals and getting kids where they needed to go, we did have some fun. The girls participate in swimming so they had a lot of practices to get to and the boy does T-ball which also meant practice and games. His first game which was supposed to be on Monday night was rained out, but he was able to play in his game on Wednesday. I guess I need to practice my cooking skills, because as the 5 year old told me while I was making him a PB&J sandwich: "You're not much of a cook are you?" :)

I will probably be the first to admit that cooking is not a strong point with me. The kids seemed to like my crepes, pancakes, and spaghetti, but not much else. I do have to say that these kids are very well behaved and endured the other meals that they didn't particularly enjoy. I enjoyed chatting with the 13 year old, watching movies with the 11 year old, and playing Just Dance 2 with the 8 year old. The 5 year old LOVES trains and so we built a train track in the playroom and then everyday, we would modify it a little bit.

On the last afternoon I was with them, we made and decorated cakes. It was pretty fun and everyone did something a little different. Even I made one! These guys are morning people, which for anyone who knows me, I am a morning person if my morning starts after 8:30. It was pretty crazy that I got so much done before I went in to work for a little bit at 9. One morning after I picked up the girls from practice, I was passing people I knew, thinking to myself, "they are going into work late", then I would look at the clock and see that they were going in on time and I had just been awake for 2 or 3 hours.

It was pretty fun and was a great thing to shake up my day to day schedule. I have learned a couple things that I should probably practice before I get married or have kids. I need to learn to cook and apparently I need to learn how to put a little girl's hair in a bun.
