You know when you have a plan all figured out in your mind about what you are going to do in a day and what times, or even a week? Well my week has not gone according to "plan". Tuesday night Carson and I needed to run and get Chase from Sky View and take him to cross-fit. Carson and I walked down the driveway to my car, put his carseat in, then buckled Carson in his seat and shut the door. I then went and climbed in the driver seat and closed my door. When I closed my door, my back window {one on the lift back}shattered and spilled into my trunk. I sat there in shock thinking that maybe I was hallucinating and this really didn't happen. After all, Carson hadn't reacted. Then as reality hit, I wanted to just curl up in a ball and sob! REALLY?!?! I thought, I already owe mom $300 that she paid "down" for my endoscopy and those bills will be coming soon! If I didn't have the money for that, how did I have the money to replace that tinted, rear defrost window!?!! I called my dad for advice (mind you this is at 4:45 pm and everyone closes at 5). The whole time I was talking to my dad, Carson was in the back seat with a concerned voice saying "window" over and over again. We went to the high school to get Chase and while I waited for him, I called Hyundai, since I already had a service appointment scheduled for the following morning. They gave me a price of $470 plus labor and they didn't have it in stock. My insurance is a $500 deductible, so I decided to keep calling around. Connor came in the house to pick up Carson while I was on the phone with the insurance so he hung around and told me to call Techna Glass. I hadn't even heard of them. By now everyone is closed so I called them just hoping they were open, and they were!!! They had it in stock and it was $189 including labor! Still didn't change the fact that I didn't have the money, but it is way cheaper than the $500 deductible! They also could get me in first thing the next morning! I called Hyundai back and rescheduled my service appointment. I now have a new back window and my car is serviced. Thankfully the only thing that Hyundai found was that I had a light out. NO BIGGIE!
Today when I got to work I only had about an hour of work and so I was just going to work for a little bit and go home to play with my sweet nephew and get some things done at home. Then tomorrow I was going to work for a few hours in the afternoon. But my co-captain's (Nyla) dear mother passed away last night and she headed out of town to handle that this morning. I ended up spending the whole day at work (with nothing to do) and will repeat this tomorrow and possibly Monday. Really not what I had in mind, but my stuff wasn't a big deal, and hers really was. My mom brightened my afternoon by sending me this picture with a note: "He found your hat after his nap!"
Another bright spot today: My relatively new vinyl decal for my CutesieBee shop was on the window that shattered. I loved it and needed to replace it. I emailed the girl from the Etsy shop where I got it and told her about the unfortunate incident in one sentence: My window shattered this week and I want to replace my decal. She wrote back that she had all of the information still and would create a custom listing. She also let me know that she was glad everything else and me were okay! How sweet is that, I have only ever ordered something from her online and this sweet lady in Florida was brightening my day! She brightened it even further by emailing me to tell me that she had set up a listing and that she had created a coupon for 20% for me to use to replace them. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!! No where was it her fault, and she gave me a discount! :) People are so sweet! I just about wanted to cry!
