On Monday we went down to Salt Lake to the Living Planet Aquarium. It was mom, Chase, me, McKenna, Carson and Brooklyn. When Connor dropped Carson off on Monday morning, he was so excited he walked right in and said “Uncle Chase, let’s go see fish.” Then we went and picked up our 4 year old cousin, Brooklyn. Carson was so excited that Brooklyn was coming with us. We went to Apollo Burger for lunch before we went to the aquarium. McKenna helped Brooklyn get her drink and go to the table while I helped Carson. He was so worried about where Brooklyn was. When we got to the table and I was getting a booster chair for him, he was panicking saying that he wanted to sit by Brooklyn. She was so cute, she slid over to him and said, “Don’t worry. I’m going to sit by you. Wow Carson you are getting big.” to which he responded “Yeah.”
They were so excited to go see the fish that they really didn’t eat very much of their lunch and were begging us to go to the aquarium. When we got there, there was a huge line to get in. The kids were so good about patiently waiting in line in the wind. They loved for us to swing them or help them jump at the same time while we walked and while we waited.
The kids loved checking out all of the exhibits and touching the otter pelt, although they were a little bit concerned that it was alive. They both loved the jellyfish, otters, and penguins.
When we got to the Amazon exhibit, both of the kids wanted to walk across the rope bridge. McKenna and I sucked it up and were adults and went with them although we are both terrified of heights. Brooklyn did great and walked across the whole thing. Carson did great until halfway at which point he got scared and began to scream and sit down. I was struggling to balance on the rope, so I couldn’t carry him and he wouldn’t budge. Luckily McKenna was in front of us and both she and I dragged him limp and screaming off the bridge! When we got off he was bawling and my legs were shaking. We had to sit down on the floor for a minute and both calm down.
After we had seen everything we went to the gift shop and Carson immediately picked up a stuffed penguin. Then he picked up a turtle and when I told him that he could only have one, he put the turtle back. This went on with almost every stuffed animal and he kept going back to the penguin, so that is what he got. I asked him if we wanted to take the penguin home with him and he said “No, I take Brooklyn.” So cute. Brooklyn got a cute little pink fish that lights up and we got Nolan a frog since he wasn’t feeling great and couldn’t come with us.
When we got in the car the kids wanted to watch Frozen on my DVD player in the car, so they watched that until we dropped Brooklyn off to her grandparents’ house. Carson was not pleased that Brooklyn was no longer with us. They were so cute together. Carson would ask Brooklyn what she was doing and she was good to answer him over and over. Then while we were in the car, Brooklyn sneezed and without any prompting, Carson said, “Bless you” to which she so politely responded, “Thank you.”
